Tamang Heritage Trail trek is a
newly introduced tourism development,
highlighting incredibly ancient lifestyle of
Tamang people combining it with the
mysterious experience of healing baths in
natural hot springs and eye catching
picturesque sceneries.
The Tamang people of this region are mostly
settlers of Tibetan background, who came
from Kerung in Tibet from across the border
to Nepal. Therefore, the culture and
traditions of these people are relevant to
the Tibetan lifestyle.
This trek provides Tamang habitat, Tamang
festivals; traditional architectural designs
shadowing in costumes also, local Syabru
dances make the exposure of this culture
extremely unique. Visitors can avail the
opportunity to observe Syabru, Mane and
other local dances at Goljung and Gatlang
VDCs. The villagers for their living also
sell exclusive selfmade handicraft like
traditional caps, mufflers and other items.
The best mystery can be enjoyed and
experienced with a hot bath in the healing
hot-water spring at Tatopani. The water
springs with enough heat to boil an egg but
as soon as it falls and settles in the
reservoir becomes suitable for hot shower
even in freezing temperatures.
Ancient monasteries and houses intricately
adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman
gives you an unforgettable experience with
famous Tamang hospitality, there are home
stay facilities in 24 houses.
ITINERARY

join in Katmandu)
Day 01: Syabru
besi. Early morning drive from
Kathmandu to Syabru besi (1982m) by bus. The
road carries you through the beautiful
villages at the foot of the mountains where
your journey begins at Syabrubesi. Overnight
at Syabrubesi hotel
Day 02: Trek to Gatlang. After an hour and half
of ascent from Syabrubesi we reach the view
point from where we can have the
extraordinary views of Ganesh Himal,
Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley
later heading down to Goljang valley for
lunch about an hour walk down hill from the
the view point. Gatlang a beautiful Tamang
village is another 3 hrs walk from Goljang.
Upon arrival the guests are welcomed by
Khadas (white scarves) and the home made
local drink called Rakshi accompanied by the
welcome song in local language and
entertaining of local Syabru dance.
Overnight at the community lodge.
Day 03: Trek to Tatopani. This would be the
longest day of the entire trip and will take
about 7 hour’s hectic walk. The walk
begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near
Chilime village) beside Bhotekoshi River
near Chilime Hydropower dam where we stop
for lunch. After lunch the trail will be
ascending upward crossing the hanging
bridge. Ascent continues until you get to
Tatopani which literally means 'hot water'.
At this spot you get a chance of Hot Shower
in the lap of the mountains as mentioned
above. Locals believe that the waters have a
healing power that eases away your aches and
pains. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 04: Trek to Thuman- The trail ascends to
Nagthali Danda (3300m) the open grassland at
height with amazing sceneries of snow
covered Himalayas the enjoyment at the top
accompanies with tea prepared by the care
taker of the Gompa. Trek continues down to a
Tibetan influenced Tamang village known as
Thuman with settlement of friendly people
who love to sing and dance. Overnight at
local family villager (Home stay).
Day 05: Trek to Briddim- The trail descends to
Timure through the ancient trade route to
Tibet Rasuwaghadi with just 3hrs walk Timure
lies on the bank of River. After lunch the
trail continues for Briddim another Tibetan
influenced Tamang village. A home stay at
Briddim is a unique experience. All
accommodations, lodgings and fooding are
offered at the individual houses on a
rotational basis. Each host family provides
clean bed, toilet and a family dining room.
The visitor enjoys the evening with the host
family, living with them, eating traditional
foods and sleeping at their usual clean bed.
Plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa
Stew), Potato, Tibetan tea, local wine are
offered. The visitor can also observe the
local indoor rituals and cultural practices
with the host family and go on village walks
to see the lifestyle traditions and customs
of the people. Later at evening the locals
gather in their traditional costume,
performing cultural songs and dances,
welcoming the visitors. The host family acts
as a guide to the visitors, explaining the
special and historical features of the
village by showing the lively craftsmanship
and enticing the visitor to avail the
opportunity to be a first hand buyer of
their products.

Day 06: Trek to Sabrubesi- After breakfast, the
trek descends from Briddim down to
Syabrubesi of just 3hrs walk. Lunch and rest
of the day is free for you to relax with
other activities at your disposal. Dinner
and overnight at Syabrubesi.
Stay at local lodge.
Day 07: Drive
to Katmandu
transfer to hotel

Chitwan wildlife safari, river rafting or
any others you have in mind.
