Day 01: Arrival
– Paro -Arrive in Bhutan
and transfer to hotel in Paro. The flight
to Bhutan is spectacular with the great
Himalayan peak appearing on and after
the others on the life side.
Visit the Ta-Dzong built
in the 17th century, as watchtower to
defend Rinpung Dzong below. This Dzong
was later converted into the National
Museum in 1967, and is filled with antique
Tanka paintings, textiles, weapons and
amour. Drive to the Rinpung Dzong, built
in 17th century to defend the valley against
the Tibetan invaders. The Dzong is now
used as an administrative center and school
for monks. Over night in Paro.
Day 02: Paro -
Thimphu -Visit Drukgyel Dzong,
which was built by Shabdrung in 1647,
to commemorate his history over the Tibetans
in 1644. Behind the Fort if weather is
clear, you can view the looming majestic
peak of Mt.Jhomolhari (7314 Metres). Along
the way see Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the
108 temples built in the Himalayas by
Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo.
Afternoon drive to Thimphu
(65kms / 2.30 hours
Day 03: Thimpu –
Paro -Visit the National Memorial
Chorten built in honor of the late king
Jigme Dorji Wangchuk and the Dupthop Lakhang
one of the few surviving nunneries in
Bhutan. Then visit the National Library,
stocked with Manuscripts painting school
at this school learn the traditional techniques
of drawing and paiting. After lunch drive
to the Traditional Medicine Hospital where
traditional medicines are prepared according
to the ancient practices. Other highlights
include a visit to the Tashichho Dzong,
seat ot the national government and the
Central Monastic body, including the summer
residence of the Je Khenpo (chief abbot
of Bhutan) Finally visit Handicrafts Emporium
and observed traditional gold and silver
smiths at work. In the evening drive to
Paro.
Day 04: Paro -
Departure -After early breakfast,
drive to airport for departure flight
to your onward destination.
